It was a gorgeous day on the Jordaan familie’s farm just outside Grootvlei when GH & Jonelda tied the knot – I first met the Jordaan family about 2 years ago for a family shoot at Irene dairy farm – this family looks like they belong in a catalogue – they are just gorgeous and not just from the outside – they on the inside a swell. So when Jonelda asked if I would be able to photograph their wedding I was over the moon with excitement and super bonus it’s a farm wedding! Yippee! Everything was perfect on their wedding day! I did get a flat Tyre – probably because I am super over keen on driving on dirt roads at unsuitable speeds… – (Ps: thank you Mouton for changing it for me!)… everything else apart from my tyre was truly just perfect! Weather, people, friends… it was truly a blessed day!
GH is a real South African Boer – they don’t like to get dressed up – they just want to get down to business – but on GH’s wedding day he looked nothing like the boer you always see in the veld… what do you think?
Jonelda’s boquet was so super gorgeous – with the soft hues of pink and white, Arum Lillies, Tulips and Roses – so beautifull!
It is such a blessing to have grandparents! Jonelda’s grandmother lovingly made their ring cushion – it’s so special and will surely be a treasured item in their bridal couples new home!
My most favourite part of a wedding is suredly when the bride walks down the isle – that moment is filled with so much emotion, and to be right in the middle of it is truly such a gift to experience that moment so often… and in the case of GH & Jonelda that moment also filled GH with emotion. It is always so special when a groom cries when his bride walks down the isle… in a society when men are always told to be strong and not show emotion… this is the one time when showing emotion is a must… and with every tear it is an affirmation of the love you have for your bride!
A few weeks before the wedding GH & Jonelda invited me to the farm for an engagement shoot and also to give me the opportunity to see where the wedding will be. Jonelda talked with such excitement about her farm wedding – she tried to explain to me what they want to do in the space… as I stood in the emty farm structure of corrugated iron and steel I tried to imagine what Jonelda had in her mind… but I could not have imagined how gorgeous everything looked – the attention to detail was immaculate – from the chairs that are perfectly stacked in a row (no you do not see that at every wedding…), to the beautiful table arrangements with orchids, roses and crystal, candles…. My breath was taken away!
… I just loved their inviations… so gorgeous! The groom and a few friends painstakingly made each little bird cage by hand, each invite got hand delivered… what did I say about attention to detail!
The bride’s mother made this yummyyyyyy cake!
