FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER?
I have always loved the arts and being creative, I have worked in various industries but never felt satisfied as I yearned to be more creative. In 2010 I quit my soul crunching job, prayed a lot, spent almost all my savings on buying gear …. And I am happy to say—I have not looked back since!
WHAT IS YOUR STYLE OF PHOTOGRAPHY
On a wedding I have to make use of various styles of photography. During my bridal portrait session I like to use classic Beauty Portraiture techniques and posing, my couples photo session is very romantic, timeless and classic and during preparation the ceremony and reception I follow a more photojournalistic approach, capturing events as they unfold around me.
DO YOU USE NATURAL LIGHT OR ARTIFICIAL LIGHT
I am well versed with both types of lighting, for the most part I love photographing in the beauty of natural light, I might use a diffuser or reflector to get the light perfect. As the day progresses I will use off-camera flashes, and if there is time we can plan a night shoot with the couple.
HOW DO I BOOK YOU?
After I have confirmed availability of your date I will forward you a booking contract. A signed contract together with a R4000 deposit secures your date.
CAN YOU KEEP MY DATE FOR ME?
I would love to keep your date but unfortunately I cannot set dates apart for brides, your date will only be confirmed once booked.
HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU DO?
I have photographed over a hundred weddings in my career so far. I only photograph a limited amount of weddings per year for a balanced life and happy family and offcourse to deliver the best customer service possible – I therefore aim not to do more than 2 weddings per month.
DO YOU HAVE A SECOND SHOOTER?
I prefer to work with an assistant on a wedding. They make me more efficient and help me by carrying my gear, swopping lenses, holding lights and reflectors. During the Ceremony and Reception my assistant will be a second photographer capturing a second angle.
WHERE DO YOU LIVE AND HOW FAR WIL YOU TRAVEL?
I reside in North Riding Johannesburg, my wedding photography packages includes 100km’s travel. I am also available for destination weddings throughout South Africa and abroad – no one will say no to an extra stamp in their passport!
WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?
Within 2-3 weeks from the wedding you would receive your Images in Jpeg format.
HOW DOES THE ALBUM ORDERING AND DESING PROCESS WORK?
On a wedding day I keep your album in mind while shooting. I find that it is less intimidating for a bride if I do the design and send it to the bride than asking the bride to choose 200 random images for their album. I will forward you a proof of your album design, you will have 2 weeks to supply me with the changes you want. Once you are happy with your album you will sign an Album Approval Form, and then your album will be ordered. It takes about 2 weeks for your albums to be printed once ordered.
DO I HAVE TO FEED YOU AT THE WEDDING?
Oh yes please, that would be very kind of you. After being on your feet for the whole day, running around and taking amazing pictures I would love to stay hydrated and be fed and keep my energy levels up & to keep me from going Hangry (hungry & angry). I do not have to sit at a fancy table, I would just need a space where I can place my gear – usually we like to buddy up with the DJ. I prefer to eat while you are eating, this gives me the opportunity to be more effective with my time, as no one wants pictures of themselves chewing a steak…
DO YOU SHOOT RAW OR JPEG?
Raw, only raw… no debate… no discussions
CAN I HAVE THE RAW FILES?
Unfortunately not. You pay me for a service, and the biggest part of that service is editing. Each and every raw file has to be edited and converted into a JPEG. I have a specific editing style and this is also what you pay me for… for my style. Asking for a raw file is like asking your baker for dough or an artist for a half painted canvas.
